Working with business

The Enterprise Awards are a celebration of the enterprising culture that is such an integral part of the University. Sir Nigel Rudd, who will become the Chancellor of the University in July, will present the Enterprise Awards on 6 October 2010.

The 11 finalists illustrate the commercial application of our research expertise and student entrepreneurship. They are making significant economic and social impact by tackling a range of key issues. Their achievements also highlight the value and opportunities arising from external collaboration. Each of these projects has received expert support and guidance from the Enterprise Office.

The winners will be decided by a public online vote that closes at midnight on 15 September. Vote now for the winning entry in each of the following categories:

Commercialisation Where the intellectual property arising from a current research project is developed for a commercial application.

Knowledge Transfer Where organisations address a strategic challenge by accessing the University's expertise. The range of schemes includes the Knowledge Transfer Partnership, involving an external organisation, the University and a graduate, and where up to 67% of the project costs are subsided.

Consultancy Where organisations engage the University's experts to undertake a specific project involving either individual academics or multi-disciplinary teams.

Student Enterprise Where the University's students have established successful commercial ventures.
